This little boy is very clever to have figured out how to crawl inside the machine. He deservesRead More more attentive parents. I hope they are court ordered to parenting classes. For what it's worth, approximately 30 years ago, I saw a toddler swathed in diapers wander out the front door of his home. The door was wide open. He started walking down the street. I parked my car and gently held him in my arms, looking for a family member to appear. No such luck. The toddler was nonverbal and unafraid. So we walked to the police station across the street. The cops on duty immediately recognized him & thought it was funny. The toddler was a known wanderer and the cops assured me he had a loving family. REALLY? They took him back home and did not write an incident report. It disturbed me then and now that the parents and police were so nonchalant. Child neglect is amusing to some people. I am not one of them.

Natick news - Nebraska news -- well at least they both start with the letter N. I said this before IRead More think everyone should not open any article on their local Patch unless they see the name of their community in it. They are trying to trick up with news. We see a headline and think - in my case - Natick - and it is not. NO NAME - NO CLICK! I think if the click rate goes down for Patch, it will hurt them advertising wise and then maybe they will listen to us that we want LOCAL NEWS! Who wants to join me in my NO NAME No CLICK campaign?

strange how we respond just as the terrorists desire us to. the media commemorates each incident asRead More if it were a new profit center to mine for every last click. whole populations now sit in fear of another 'something' about to happen, never again, fully safe like we were in the good old days of the cold war? once these bstrds hit us deep inside our own turf we have not become stronger, but rather 'hardened', emboldened in our delusions of ultimate superiority, no longer safe on our 'island of north america'. each of these events changes us all even imperceptably, forcing us to accept their motives, their ideals, their imam imposed concept of living. we act in unison, determined to show them we are not affected, yet that very demonstration reveals our inner need to respond, to re-affirm our own injury, each of those crowd-felt sympathies we all cling to, even if for the brief moment of our 'crowd'. be strong, and further, be alert, be conspicuous in manner in which you care for each other. shy not away from those who seek your death, but do not embrace them, as they fein no challenge to seek close to your demise.

Reading the various posts here I am struck at the hatred we now have for one another. I believe weRead More are more divided now that at any time in our history with the exception of the Civil War. Obama is a huge success. He has managed to divide our people as no one else has in modern history. A shame that so many have stopped thinking for themselves and instead follow the masses and the political propaganda.
Stu Pidasso April 16, 2014 at 01:49 pm
Mike- there is no hate here. actually a pathetic situation when one feels he is "owed"Read More something rather than earning it by working for it. Why not move down to the inner city and live there for 6 months, then get back to us!! it should be a real eye opener for you!! I work 6-7 days a week to enjoy what I have, even though i have little time to do so, I'm not complaining, but it bothers me that i am penalized by the way of extra taxes, fee's , etc., to help those who have no intention of trying to help themselves.. I have TWO children, NOT 5, 6, or 7 simply because I cannot afford it, and would NOT EXPECT the government to take care of them for me!!!

Having lost a child, I can say these families will mourn for as long as they live, and will have to find a "new normal" as EVERYTHING is changed for them now...I wish them strength, there is nothing quite like burying a child. Appreciated are the messages of respect and sympathy. It can be annoying to get news from areas other than your own, however the new Patch is doing things differently, and show no evidence of changing it back.....my best advice would be to ignore stories not in your area, and to write your editor directly, and share your comments with those who can make changes.

It says Around Town but the headline is UTAH. Utah is not near Natick!! I think everyone should notRead More open an article on Patch unless they see their town's name in the headline. So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! OK OK- you guys live in denial. You're choice- Just remember- if you can't recognize the enemy, youRead More will lose. UN cannot dictate anything to America we are a sovereign nation with sovereign states and states rights. Or don't we? If you believe that, that is in jeopardy. So you can sell, donate, your land to the state, feds, land trust, for whatever THEY determine the land use, whether its open space or an apartment complex. maybe not at this time, but then again- they can do whatever they wan with it. And of course you trust them. But "YOU" won't be able to put a swing set on it for your grandchildren. Good luck.

As we get closer to Scamalambadingdong Day (originally Earth Day) we need to spread the credit weRead More find the mess we call Connecticut to both Parties. The Californication of Connecticut is accelerated by being down wind from Christie land and Schumerville. Planning does not exist, has not in the Pop Culture era. US is 3% of all dirt on Earth. 5% of US is "developed'. 50% of the US population lives within 50 miles of an Ocean or Great Lakes. High risers near our fabulously run State rail system, with easy access to our pristine Federal I95 with no industry (especially gun manufacturing) polluting our Nutmeg crops we are already in Paradise...why more open space. Our nutcase proud descendants of the original Tea Party are scoffed at and dismissed, while our eminent Brooklyn transplant Senator Suethemall gets no credit for our past or future. He was Attorney General for 25 years and created every wonderful land law we thrive under. Just 'cuze his heroic service as a boot on the neck of landowners does not have any mud from the swamps of Viet Nam, we should not hold that against him. Just 'cuze he amassed his fortune erasing neighborhoods with his Empire State bottom dredging in-laws we need to take them seriously. Rowland will probably be able to reflect from his confines about his glorious legacy and chumming his way through the Shays Daze of creating the most Politically Korrect State in the Union. (Union approval required of course.) Please know that the Tea Party is responsible for all of this. Without tea as a choice we would just all be gulping down Green (union only manufactured) Kool Aide paid for by taxes collected by RepublicanDemocrats. Next thing the tea people will be accused of is trying to protect our environment with common sense instead of common cents and even daring to consider hunting on open space. Time to pop the green bubble and return to 200 plus years of success, all started by the original Tea Party.

Creeky April 15, 2014 at 11:35 am
I think if we go to right to work instead of closed shop, reform the DEEP to get permitting moreRead More realistic, cut all fees and taxes on business (there are a lot more than you think) and move as many state jobs to contractors as possible (including as much education as possible) we have a shot at bringing back some manufacturing (which creates a lot of solid, skilled, good paying jobs, as well as creates lots of small business opportunities -- everything from sandwich shops to job shops). We can't undo the foolishness that resulted in pension and healthcare benefits for former and current state emotes to be breaking us. But, we can stop falling for the let the rich corporations pay instead of us poor workers nonsense, which has resulted in the rich corporations going anywhere but here. But, the unions own the dems, and the dems own the legislature. Nothing will change. Dems don't lead. They don't make hard decisions. They play upon emotions. Despite their lofty claimed goals, they have become the root of evil. And, that's a mighty sad commentary from a determined independent. Dems, your entitlement programs have a proven record of creating dependency and keeping the poor poor. How do you sleep at night? Seriously, where are your ethics? Don't bring up republicans or the tea party. This is not a compare and contrast,; that's a tool of rationalization. The question is, programs like the great society destroyed black families. Head Start is actually holding children back (that one can only be a crisis of execution, but you didn't eliminate the leadership when you increased funding). Unions destroy cities. Nine of this is debatable. How do you sleep? How do you look yourselves in the mirror knowing that you harm people for personal political gain? I'm not asking the voters, they're good people with good intentions. I'm asking the filthy politicians? Don't you know right from wrong?

Decaturette back in the days before collapsible steering shafts it was a bad idea to wear a seatbeltRead More because during a head on collision the steering shaft would act as a spear and run you through. I never wore a seat belt my old MGA or TR3. However, this is no longer a problem because of modern design and engineering. Some people will hem and haw about being t-boned at an intersection and the harm that a three point harness can do. I personally know many people who have had their lives saved by seat belts. I always wear mine. They should afford children the same opportunity to protect themselves. A 25 mile per hour head on collision with another vehicle travelling at 25 miles per hour is like a 50 mile per hour collision. So I do not buy the argument about shorter distances nor do I buy the article about lower driving speeds. What can is cost to have simple lap belts installed in a school bus? Are we that greedy?
Becky April 14, 2014 at 04:03 pm
I think the real reason they don't install them is that it would raise a whole other level ofRead More liability -- like that then they would have to keep the seatbelts in good working order, and maybe enforce that people wear them. Could I sue them because another passenger flew out of their seat and hit me. Etc, etc.
