Volunteer to Help Clean Up Fort Trumbull Park!

In September of 1781, the British stormed Fort Trumbull. On April 6, 2013, a very different wave of people will descend on the Fort. History buffs, preservationists, community volunteers, members of the Civil War Trust, Coast Guard Cadets, and Seamen from the New London Sub Base will join together to help clean and restore one of Connecticut’s important historical sites. Volunteers will participate in activities ranging from trash removal, painting, caulking, raking, dusting and cleaning in the buildings, and other maintenance projects large and small. This year’s Civil War Park Day will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Fort Trumbull, 90 Walbach Street, New London. Phone: 860-444-7591. This event is open to the public. All volunteers will meet at the visitor’s center lobby at 8:30 a.m. to register and to be assigned to a project by park staff.
