High Hopes Hosts "A Night In New Orleans" Fundraising Gala This Saturday.

Ian Coyne, 14, of Clinton spends most of his life in a wheelchair but when he comes to High Hopes in Old Lyme, he's riding high. Coyne has been coming to High Hopes Therapeutic Riding since he was two and a half years old.

"He just loves it," said his grandmother, Linda Larkin. "He loves horses. He never would have a chance to ride [without High Hopes]. The people, the horses, are like family."

Coyne was one of many riders who had a chance to display their skills at a recent show held at High Hopes and sponsored by Dominion, which offered free pizza and ice cream.

High Hopes will be holding its annual fundraising concert on Saturday, June 8, starting at 5 p.m. with a cocktail party and silent auction, followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and a concert by Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience at 8 p.m. The event will be held in the ring (which will be properly transformed for the occasion with a stage, dance floor, and even a chandelier).

Ticket prices are $140, $175, and $250—which are fully deductible as charitable contributions. High Hopes is located at 36 Town Woods Road in Old Lyme. Call (860) 434-1974 ext. 123 for reservations.
