Police Investigate Bank Robbery in Salem

State Police are investigating a bank robbery that happened this morning at Chelsea Groton Bank at Salem Four Corners.

At about 9:55 a.m. today State Police Troop K Colchester received a 911 call reporting that bank robbery had just taken place at the Chelsea Groton Bank located at Salem 4-corners in the Town of Salem.

The Resident State Trooper, and Troop K Troopers responded to the robbery scene. A search of the area was conducted utilizing State Police K-9 teams, manpower and the State Police aviation unit. In addition, all surrounding police departments were notified of this robbery and the description of the suspect.

The suspect was described as a white male between age of 50-60 years, approximately 5’3”, wearing blue jeans, blue denim type jacket with brown collar, white sneakers, tan baseball type cap, gray gloves, and light colored mustache. 

The State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad Detectives also responded to process the bank robbery crime scene. Witnesses stated that the suspect entered the bank implied a weapon and demanded money. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries sustained.

State Police are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious between 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. in the area of the bank to please contact State Police at 860 537-7500. All calls will be kept confidential.
