Police Blotter: Pedestrian Hit By Car in Niantic

Pedestrian Struck By Car Gets Warning For Not Granting Right of Way

On February 19, Trevor Blize, 27, of 215 Main Street, #113, Niantic, was struck by a car while crossing at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Main Street in Niantic.

The driver, Bekure Williams, 37, of 310 Boston Post, #9, in Waterford, was traveling Eastbound when the accident occurred at about 6 p.m.. According to the police report, it was raining at the time and Blize, who was wearing dark clothing, was not crossing at the crosswalk.

Blize was transported by Niantic Fire Department ambulance to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for a broken leg and facial injuries. Police issued Blize a warning for not granting right of way.

Arrest Report for East Lyme 

Eric J. Wasniewski, 42, of 46 Spring Glen Road, Niantic, was arrested on February 16 and charged with disorderly conduct/threatening, interfering with an emergency call, assault in the third degree (minor injury) strangulation in the third degree, and unlawful restraint in the first degree.

East Lyme Police made the arrest following an investigation into a disturbance at Elms Motel, 20 Ocean Avenue, Niantic, in the wee hours of the morning. According to the police report, Wasniewski allegedly physically assaulted a 16-year-old female, would not allow her to leave the room, and took her cell phone when she dialed 911.

Wasniewski's pet pitbull also reportedly bit the girl several times during the altercation. The dog was taken by Waterford-East Lyme Animal Control. The girl was taken by ambulance to an area hospital to be treated for her injuries. Wasniewski was taken into custody and bond was set at $10,000. 

Arrest Report for Old Lyme

Leone Santo, 28, of 21 Hartford Avenue, Old Lyme, was arrested on February 16 following a traffic stop on Route 2A in Montville and charged with driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Bond was set at $500.
