Police Blotter: Motorcycle Crash Allegedly Caused By Drunk Driver

August 31

An accident on August 31 resulted in one hospitalization and one arrest. According to police, a Jeep attempting to turn left from Route 163 onto the southbound ramp of I-395 at exit 79 collided with a Harley Davidson motorcycle, forcing the bike off the road and ejecting the rider into a nearby wooded area.

The motorcycle rider, Mark Richardson, 50, of 65 Simpson Lane in Oakdale, suffered an incapacitating injury and was taken first to Backus Hospital in Norwich and then to Hartford Hospital to be treated for a serious leg injury.

The Jeep fled the scene but the vehicle was subsequently located in East Lyme. At that point, the driver, Brian N. Forsyth, 21, of 46 Bush Hill Drive in Niantic was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Forsyth was not injured in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Officer R. McCauley of the Montville Police Department at (860) 848-7510.   

State Police Troop F Westbrook

August 25

Thomas N. Agritelly, 22, of 11 Cassidy Drive, Plainville was charged with traveling too fast on Hartford Avenue at Sound View Beach in Old Lyme. After Agritelly allegedly failed a field sobriety test, police also charged him with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

I feel that beyond my concerns, my children may feel threatened or uncomfortable in a school with kids that are so much older than they are. It just doesn't seem like this would be the best decision for any of the children that would be affected by this change.
