Police Blotter: Accident and Arrest Reports for East Lyme, Old Lyme, and Lyme

Accident Reports—State Police Troop F

December 31, 2012

Zhengpeng Li, 21, of 27 Mackinnen Place, East Lyme, was traveling north on Four Mile River Road and lost control on a curve, striking a guard rail. Police issued an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions. No injuries were reported.

January 1, 2013

Kaylee Rowland, 20, of 126 Sill Lane, Old Lyme, was driving southbound on Grassy Hill Road approaching the intersection of Blood Street as Justin Zabilansky, 19, of 389 2 Grassy Hill Road in Lyme was traveling at "unreasonable" speed onto Grassy Hill Road with what the police report describes as "total disregard for the stop sign."

The two vehicles collided, resulting in damage to both vehicles that required they be towed from the scene. Rowland was transported by Lyme Ambulance to Shoreline Medical Clinic to be treated for minor injuries. 

January 2, 2013

A vehicle traveling eastbound on Route 156 near Windward Road was hit by another vehicle traveling westbound on Route 156 that crossed over the center line. The offending vehicle left the scene. It is described as a tan Jeep CJ with a yellow plow on it. Police are investigating the incident.  

Arrest Reports—State Police Troop E and East Lyme Police Department

January 2, 2013

Nickolas J. Marcelo, 20, of 19 Terrace Ave., Apt. A, New London, turned himself in to East Lyme Police Department on an outstanding warrant issued on November 20, 2012, for crimes committed on Chesterfield Road in East Lyme. Marcelo was charged with larceny in the 3rd degree. Bond was set at $25,000.

January 3, 2013

Katherine Amero, 46, of 39 Beckwith Road, Oakdale, struck a telephone pole in front of Trakas Sunoco Station on Pennsylvania Avenue in Niantic, snapping the pole in two. She continued on for about a quarter of a mile before her badly damaged vehicle could go no farther, according to the police report. Amero allegedly failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Bond was set at $500.
