Patch's Poll: Will You Buy The iPhone 5?

Word is that Apple's latest will be available on Sept. 21.

Ever since Siri burst on the scene in 2011 and started giving people advice about where to bury dead bodies, Apple afficionados have been waiting to see what will come next from the iconic smart phone.

The rumors were put to rest at a 1 p.m. Apple press conference today when the lighter, thinner iPhone 5 was unveiled to the world.

According to CNN, the new device has a four-inch retina display screen that allows for five rows of apps. The iPhone 4S has a 3.5-inch screen that shows only four rows of apps. The new phone has an improved camera and three speakers, and Facetime will be in HD.

The company's new "A6" chip means that the iPhone 5 can be twice as fast as its predecessor, CNN reported. It also has 4G LTE connectivity, which is compatible with the Verizon, AT&T and Sprint networks.

Do you have to have it? Will you wait in line at the Apple store in a sleeping bag before the launch, or do you scoff at the price and think the slavish devotion to Apple products is totally misplaced?

Take our poll and tell us what you think in the comments.

Even if Apple made products worth buying (which they do not) I would boycott because I disagree with the philosophy Jobs founded (and ran) his company on. I am sure to get "hate mail" for having an opinion.

I haven't checked it out too much since i just got a new driod but I know my iPod has lasted like 7 years. Thus, apple makes good products that last a long tim, just depends on if you can afford that higher upfront costs (which sometimes it's not). Ideally, buying every new phone that comes out sounds crazy to me. Do you have any idea how long it takes to setup a phone and customize it? It can take days to get it just right.

I am an Apple products owner but is will not bash you. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion even if we disagree. I do not understand this love/hate debate about Apple. It sometimes feels more like a jealousy than anything else.

I hate that these big companies keep coming out with the "newest" thing all the time. You can't tell me that their development people don't PLAN this... meaning: they put out one 'new' iPhone, then a few months later, they are hit with some brand new idea to add to the iPhone to then put out the NEXT new iPhone?? It's all a strategy to get more money out of people, and it makes me mad that people fall for this. And yes, maybe it makes me so mad because I am jealous that I can't afford all the new things. LOL!

All of these new and improved products contain rare earth elements that are mined by slave labor. If you must have one, make sure you use it as long as possible, and recycle the old one(s).

I plan on getting the iPhone 5 as soon as possible. Then I plan on going right to Corey Fyke to brag all about it.I will then place bets with my wife on how quick he gets one!!

Steve (from above): What's YOUR last name? (i.e., you were so willing to give Corey's...)
steve September 15, 2012 at 03:02 AM
Hmmmm Steve Fyke????
Gloria September 15, 2012 at 04:10 AM
Hmmmm, Steve... I don't know what to say, since I don't think that's your last name, it's your friend's last name, and I don't think he's your brother; you would have said so... So I think I should just laugh at this and walk away... (I feel badly for your friend though - that you will buy the newest iPhone just to brag...) Sorry, Steve.

Just think of this if you NEVER buy a smart phone or get unlimited everything you could retire very comfortably. But that's NEVER going to happen.
