Presidential nominee Mitt Romney is scheduled to close the Republican National Convention on Thursday with the final speech of the three-day event.
The speech is being billed as the “defining moment” of the convention, as reported by CNBC, when Romney will have to convince the country that he has what it takes to defeat President Barack Obama in November.
But there are several other speeches that lead up to today since the convention’s start on Tuesday. Observers and media personalities spoke highly of vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan, Ann Romney, the presidential candidate's wife, and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, among other people.
The New York Times has conventiently listed some of the top speeches on its website.
So, we ask, who has had the best speech from the Republican National Convention so far? Take our poll and share your thoughts in the comments.
Obama promised to cut the 15 trillion dollar defiit in half in his first year of office. Failed. Obama promised to close Guantonamo Bay Cuba. Failed. Obama promised to let the Bush era tax cuts expire in 2010. Failed. Obama promised to create a $10 billion fund to aid homeowners at risk of foreclosure. Failed. Obama promised amnesty for illegals in Immigration Reform. Failed. Obama promised to end the war in Afghanistan in his first term. Failed Obama promised to ban lobbyists from serving in the Obama administration. Failed Obama promised to reduce unemployment to 2007 levels. Failed. At least Christie is looking at Obama's record while the Democrats are talking about Christie's weight...lol
If, in fact, they are important to you, do you think NOT voting for Obama will accomplish the above. 1. You think the repubs care about the deficit? Look at the records over the last 80 years and show me where they did NOT increase our debt and the deficit. Obama has stated his plan to start paying down the deficit (which needs Congress approval) but the GOP does not have a plan to accomplish this. 2. GOP will NOT close GB, Cuba 3. The only Busg tax cuts that will expire are for those making less than 1 million. This groupl does not matter to the GOP. 4. The funding is there for homeowners. Congress will not foce the banks to adjust or lend. 5. He has allowed the Dream Act to become policy. This Congress will not make it law. Romney has vowed to overturn the policy. 6. Obamahas pulled our troops from Iraq. Afghanistan is more complicated. But rest assured - the GOP will keep us there (mo matter what they stump) and will also have us in Iran within a year. I'll match Mitt's 10K bet on that one Continued....
8. Unemployment remains too high. But why? maybe becasue the House blocked the Jobs Act. Maybe because the House blocked the Small Business Act. Or maybe, the Corporations that are sitting on more assests than ever in our history are just waiting for someone to boost the middle class spending they rely on. Supply economics doesn't work - needs to be supply and demand. Christie - maybe he needs to stay in NJ and worry about his OWN 9.2% unemployment rate. As a major GOP force he doesn't seem to know how to make it work. One last thing about the GOP. No matter what the issue, it always seems to go back to removing Constitutional Rights from one group or another. Any group that thinks American citizens should have LESS rights - not more - is very bad for our country.
