Ainsley McGill is Old Lyme's Ice Princess

This champion figure-skater will be giving a demonstration at the Ice Skate For Babies fundraiser for the March of Dimes on Saturday.

At 16, Ainsely McGill rules the ice. This young figure skater from Old Lyme is a U.S. National Silver Medalist, a three-time U.S. National Qualifier, and a three-time New England Regional Medalist.

Normally she trains in Simsbury with coaches Vladimir and Elena Petrenko but you'll have a chance to see her in action on Saturday, Feb. 9, when she'll be giving a figure skating demonstration at a fundraiser for the March of Dimes.

The Skating for Babies benefit is organized by an East Lyme couple who credit advances in neonatal care for saving the life of their daughter, now 4, who was born prematurely.

The event is a family night of skating and raffles that is being held at Connecticut College's Dayton Arena, 270 Mohegan Ave, in New London from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Tickets are $10 per adult, $5 per child, and rental skates are available for $5. All of the proceeds will go to benefit the March of Dimes.

I wondered that myself when I looked at it, then noticed that lots of our local farmers marketsRead More aren't on the map. When I dug a little deeper, I noticed that all the markets the state lists are "self-reported" in other words, markets have to let the state know and then they're added.
