LVVS World Book Night with Old Lyme-Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library

Literacy Volunteers Valley Shore, partnering
with the Old Lyme-Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library, invites you to join in celebrating
World Book Night on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 9:30-11:30 AM.  The event will be held at the First
Congregational Church, 2 Ferry Road, Old Lyme in the meeting room immediately
following the Shoreline Soup Kitchen’s breakfast session. World Book Night is
an annual celebration dedicated to spreading the love of reading.  Each year donations are made to communities
of a half million free paperbacks to light and non-readers in hopes of
inspiring new readers. LVVS has chosen “Wait Till Next Year: A Memoir” by Doris
Kearns Goodwin, a poignant story of growing up in 1950’s in New York suburbs,
for its contribution.  Phoebe Griffin
Noyes Library has chosen “Where’d You Go, Bernadette?” by Maria Semple, a
satirical novel of a woman’s genuine emotional pain. The mission of LVVS is to
teach Valley Shore residents to read, write, and speak English to improve their
work and life skills in their communities.
At the event LVVS will have literature available about its programs.
