Artists' Reception - 10th Anniversary Exhibition with the Odyssey Painters - Art Gallery at the Mill House

Join us for our artists’ reception to celebrate our 10th Anniversary Exhibition featuring the Odyssey Painters. Sharing an interest in painting outdoors, this group of plein air painters gathers throughout the changing seasons. From the rolling Lyme hillsides to the Connecticut shoreline, we have put together a collection of fine art for your viewing pleasure.

The Odyssey Painters come from diverse backgrounds, but share a passion for painting en plein air. Each captures on canvas her feelings and emotions about a shared “Crown Jewel” – the lower Connecticut River tidal basin. Here where the river meets The Sound, they find their inspiration. These beautiful surroundings are where they each live, work and play.

This group of women, who are by day nurses, teachers, dental hygienists, retirees, students, and marketing directors … but on their own time they are artists. “It is our time to discover the ins and outs of painting this beautiful land, sky and water that surrounds us—and learn about ourselves,” says one of the members. Their approach to art is unique, but their inspiration is mutual for landscapes, Impressionism, and the fact all have studied under Noel Belton.

Their vision statement is, “Life is a journey of art and soul. It is a gift we give ourselves, this peaceful time for self expression – hence our name: the Odyssey painters.”
