What's Closed, What's Open Thanksgiving Day and Friday?

Government offices are closed today but there are still places open for business today—handy if you forgot to buy cranberry sauce!

Thanksgiving is a federal holiday, so most places are closed today and a number of businesses are closed Friday too. For stores, however, Friday is a very big shopping day that in many cases begins late in the evening on Thursday. 

What's Closed

All federal and state government offices, including the U.S. Post Office, are closed on Thanksgiving.

Lyme-Old Lyme Schools and East Lyme Schools are closed Thanksgiving and Friday. 

East Lyme, Old Lyme, and Lyme's Town Halls will be closed until Monday, November 26.

Banks have the option of staying open but most banks are closed today.

Lyme Public Library, East Lyme Public Library, and Old Lyme Phoebe Griffin Noyes Library will be closed Thanksgiving Day but will open again on Friday and Saturday for regular library hours. 

Old Lyme's Transfer Station will be closed on Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23 for the Thanksgiving holiday.  The Transfer Station will be open on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Big Y in Old Lyme is closed Thanksgiving Day.

What's Open

Super Stop & Shop in East Lyme is open Thanksgiving. 

Dunkin' Donuts is open.

Many pharmacies are open, including CVS which is open for regular business hours, but the pharmacy will close earlier than usual. 

A number of local restaurants are open Thanksgiving Day including the Old Lyme Inn.
