School in East Lyme, Old Lyme, and Lyme Closed Monday

Red Cross Regional Emergency Shelter plans to remain open at East Lyme Middle School Sunday night.

East Lyme and Lyme-Old Lyme Schools will be closed Monday. East Lyme First Selectman Paul Formica said the main concern in the school buses being able to navigate the routes. While most main roads are now open, some side streets still need to be plowed and others only have one lane clear.

As of 4 p.m., the number of people staying at the Red Cross Regional Emergency Shelter at the East Lyme Middle School had dwindled considerably to just a few dozen people as power was being restored.

At 4:15 p.m., only 25 percent of East Lyme had no power, 33 percent of Old Lyme was still in the dark, and 15 percent of Lyme had no power. The Red Cross planned to keep the shelter in East Lyme open tonight for those residents in need. In some areas, power would not be restored until midnight. The shelter is pet-friendly.
