This Year's Salvation Army Kettles Efforts Are Not Doing So Well!

This post is to make everyone aware that unfortunately our Kettles efforts are not going as well as we expected it to go, or quite honestly needs to go. We are currently a little over $20,000 below what we were at this point last year. This is a double whammy when you add the fact that we didn't make our last year's goal as well.

As a result of not making our goals last year, there was close to 1,000 individuals whose request we could not meet during the 2012 Christmas Season since we simply did not have the funding to do so. With a $20,000 hole--and a year where the economy saw so many new people having to struggle with financial hardships due to the recession, meeting the needs in Southern New London County is going to be an even more critical challenge For the Salvation Army of New London to meet during the Season of 2012.

We are still hoping that we can still meet the challenge however. There are still 17 days of Kettles left, and we believe that our Kettle workers are doing the best they can to help make our goals. We would like to make the general public aware of our Kettles spots--so that you can keep them in mind when you go shopping in the area during the next 3 weeks.

They are:

Walmart(s) and Stop and Shops in Groton, Waterford, and Old Saybrook.

Stop and Shop in North Stonington, Clinton and East Lyme

Crystal Mall, (Food Court, Wild Buffalo Wings, JC Penny's, Christmas Tree shop)

Or if you prefer today's modern technology's method, you can also use your smart phone to make a contribution. Simply text TSANL, followed by your donation amount, to 41444 to give!

As always, you are invited to please find us and friend us on Facebook at
