Old Lyme Inn and The Bee & Thistle Make the List of Connecticut Magazine's Best Restaurants

A number of local restaurants were among the "experts' picks" but none from East Lyme or Niantic made the final cut

Connecticut Magazine just came out with its "experts picks" for best restaurants statewide in 26 categories and a number of local restaurants made the list.

The Old Lyme Inn, which was recently remodeled and is in every way quite lovely with a really creative menu of delicious dishes, won an honorable mention in the Best American category.

Its neighbor on the other side of Lyme Street in Old Lyme, The Bee & Thistle, won an honorable mention in the Most Romantic Category, which will also come as no surprise to anyone who's ever stayed there.

More surprising was that no restaurants from East Lyme or Niantic were on the list (although Flander's Fish Market & Restaurant won in the seafood category of Connecticut Magazine's reader's poll for restaurants, which was published late last year).

At least one reader noted this in the comments section, citing "No mention of The Shack in East Lyme for Breakfast" as one of the more glaring omissions.

I wondered that myself when I looked at it, then noticed that lots of our local farmers marketsRead More aren't on the map. When I dug a little deeper, I noticed that all the markets the state lists are "self-reported" in other words, markets have to let the state know and then they're added.

As a parent of 2 children that attend NCS, I do not think the elementary school is the best place toRead More relocate Coastal Connection to. I feel that beyond my concerns, my children may feel threatened or uncomfortable in a school with kids that are so much older than they are. It just doesn't seem like this would be the best decision for any of the children that would be affected by this change.
