Slippery Roads Overnight Monday, Snow Tuesday

Be careful on the roads, especially on bridges, overpasses and any road that hasn't been treated, as standing water will turn to ice.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather alert for New London County cautioning drivers to expect slick roads as temperatures drop overnight on Monday.

"With abundant low level moisture across the region and temperatures dropping below freezing this evening, any standing water will freeze later tonight. This will create hazardous driving conditions, especially on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads," the alert stated.

Tuesday, the forecast is calling for snow to begin in the morning, with snowfall becoming heavier as the day goes on for a maximum accumulation of one to three inches, although higher accumulation is possible if snow bands develop. Temperatures won't be much higher than 36 degrees.
