It's Snow Going—Finally, The Blacktop Is Back!

Roads and sidewalks are vastly improving all over East Lyme, Old Lyme, and Lyme, although snow banks are still high enough to make excellent luge runs for kids!

Despite overnight snow on Wednesday, it was possible to take a quick tour rather than a slow crawl along Route 156 yesterday from East Lyme to Lyme because the roads were clear and dry. All along the route, town public works crews were very much in evidence removing roadside snow banks—particularly on bridges—and clearing sidewalks.

Old Lyme should be finishing up clearing snow and sidewalks on Lyme Street and Ferry Road today.

There are still some pretty hefty piles of snow that have yet to be cleared—Lyme Town Hall is practically fortified by snow banks. For the kids at recess at Lyme Consolidated School, however, the snow banks by the playground made excellent ice slides!

I wondered that myself when I looked at it, then noticed that lots of our local farmers marketsRead More aren't on the map. When I dug a little deeper, I noticed that all the markets the state lists are "self-reported" in other words, markets have to let the state know and then they're added.
