A Look At Some Of The Highlights Of Celebrate East Lyme

There was dancing in the streets, fireworks, and so much more in Niantic on Saturday

Celebrate East Lyme had people dancing in the streets on Saturday. This year, there was something for everyone, from the battle of the bands at the teen area at McCook Point Park Pavilion to the carnival at St. John's. Thomas the Train offered choo choo rides around town. Vendors included local businesses and nonprofits, and offered everything from hairdos to temporary tattoos, chowder to crepes, frozen yogurt to yoga.

First Selectman Paul Formica was repeatedly dunked. Drummer and Deputy First Selectman Mark Nickerson kept the beat for The Paul Lussier Band at McCook's Point Park. ProTek Auto bested its only competitor, Sign Craft, in the raft race and won the Golden Paddle award, again. And Joe Menchetti took home the $500 prize in Giuliano's Monster Breakfast Sandwich eating contest by polishing off six sandwiches in 20 minutes (and retaining it all!)

Best of all, the thunderclouds passed Niantic by and the fireworks display went off without a hitch!

Here's a look at what you missed if you couldn't make it on Saturday.
